Terms & Conditions
How our quotations, deposits, made-to-measure orders and installations work.
1. These terms
These terms apply to work carried out by MJS Bespoke Joinery of Unit 12 Avenue Fields, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 0HT. Where a signed quotation or order confirmation says something different, that document takes precedence.
2. Quotations
Design consultations and quotations are free. Because everything we make is fully bespoke, there is no fixed price list, each project is priced individually once we have surveyed the space and agreed the specification. A quotation covers the items and finishes it lists; changes to the brief after acceptance may alter the price and the programme, and will be confirmed in writing before we proceed.
3. Deposits and payment
A deposit of 30–50% is payable on acceptance, depending on the size of the project, with the balance due on completion unless the quotation states otherwise. Materials are ordered and workshop time is booked against that deposit.
4. Made-to-measure work
Our furniture is made to your measurements and specification, so it cannot be resold. For that reason the cancellation rights that apply to standard goods do not apply to bespoke items once manufacture has begun. If you need to cancel, tell us as early as possible and we will confirm what, if anything, can be refunded.
5. Access and site conditions
You agree to provide safe access to the property on the agreed fitting dates, along with power and a clear working area. Where walls, floors or ceilings are significantly out of true, or where hidden services are discovered, we will discuss the implications with you before continuing.
6. Timber and finishes
Timber is a natural material: grain, colour and figure vary, and small seasonal movement is normal. Samples and drawings are an accurate guide rather than an exact match. Painted finishes are matched to the agreed reference.
7. Workmanship and defects
We build our joinery to last and we stand behind our workmanship. If something is not right, tell us and we will inspect it and put right any defect in our work or materials. This does not cover damage caused by misuse, accidental damage, alterations by others, or normal wear.
8. Insurance and accreditation
We hold £10m public liability and £5m employer's liability cover and are accredited by Checkatrade, SMAS, CHAS and Safecontractor. Our team is DBS checked. Evidence can be supplied on request.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction over any dispute.
